Low Carbs or Low Fat? Try again...
You know...
Proponents of different diet brands (fads) keep assuring us that their diets give us the best possible results. Low Carbs followers (like the Atkin diet) reckon this regime delivers results faster than your low-fat-low-calorie counterparts.
Low carbs people are correct, I'm afraid to say. Low carb works faster... and it works.
My sister is currently on a very brutal regime fit for a zen-buddist monk on a detox mission, and she has lost 3.4 kg in 5 days! (That's 7.4 lbs!).
I have no doubt she'll keep losing weight at that drastic rate. I wish her the best (and my compassion, as she is not following Atkin's, but another brand of controlled eating regime... and on that one, you do feel very hungry... reportedly.... Unless you drink galons of water, that is!).
But the point is not whether you lose weight, or how quickly. The point is: lose weight in a healthy way, and keep it down. A crash diet can give you results quickly, but will you be able to sustain that success? Or will it be a short-lived one?

In my own case, I still believe in the middle path: Unless you're a chronic case, you're better off following a moderate food regime with moderate exercise... but that's just me. Other folks may wish to become Shaolin monks, and do away with gastronimic pleasures... ;-)
